Sustainability

Sustainably does it

Farming has a reputation for ‘taking from’, rather than ‘giving back’. At Madron, we believe in sowing more than we harvest. These values extend beyond our produce lines and team members’ livelihoods, it’s why we’re as invested in our surroundings and communities as we are in our staff complement, and why sustainability isn’t a buzzword – it’s our life’s work.

“We’re committed to returning the farm to its original state, which is why there is an entire team who have nothing to do with picking or packing a lettuce leaf. Their full-time job is ridding the farm of alien vegetation.”

Sustainability
is our way of life

We don’t see ‘sustainability’ as a scorecard or a series of boxes to be ticked (so we’re deemed ‘good’ to do business with), we embrace it as a call to action. It is integral to the future, not only of our family-run business but of the livelihoods and quality of life of us all involved.

Sustainability
is everything to us

From our innovative farm infrastructure to our packhouse processes, from our dedicated R&D team to our relentless pursuit of innovative, planet-friendly ways to use less water and less farming inputs, we are as committed to delivering on our premium quality produce promise as we are committed to a journey of finding ways to preserve, protect and improve the land we farm on – and alongside.

We are members of the Walker Bay Conservancy, and working with them to study our Fauna and Flora gives us insights into how to progress with our journey to improve our environment.
